AI Mood Match uses a reference photo to automatically align your scene’s lighting with the look and atmosphere of the image. By analyzing the lighting conditions in the reference, it configures V-Ray’s Sun and Sky or image-based lighting to produce a closely matched mood.

AI enhancement of large surfaces

AI Enhancer now brings realistic detail to large, uniform surfaces such as floors, walls, asphalt, and terrain. By adding natural variation like wear, dirt, and subtle imperfections at the correct scale, expansive areas gain depth and realism without manual re-texturing.

Improved accuracy in AI Enhancer

Materials, generated by the AI Material Generator, now support high-resolution 4K textures, delivering sharper detail and higher-quality results. An enhanced interactive 3D preview lets users fine-tune normal and roughness settings, adjust tiling, and preview materials on different objects before saving them to the library.

Node Material Editor (preview)

The new Node-Based Material Editor introduces a visual way to build and adjust V-Ray materials in SketchUp and Rhino. By working with connected nodes, artists can better understand material logic and create more complex shaders with greater control. Designed to complement existing material workflows, the Node Material Editor offers a more flexible and intuitive approach to material creation. Available as an early preview, it lays the foundation for a fully featured node-based editor planned for future V-Ray releases.

Camera improvements

New camera controls in V-Ray for 3ds Max give artists greater precision and flexibility when framing and rendering scenes. Objects can now be included or excluded on a per-camera basis, making it easy to manage variations without duplicating geometry or relying on complex scene states. Object-based autofocus allows the camera’s focus distance to stay locked to a selected object or point in 3D space, ensuring clear focus even as the camera moves.

VFB improvements

Color control and working with images in the V-Ray Frame Buffer is now easier and more predictable. A new histogram widget gives you a clear view of color distribution, while the advanced Image layer makes it easier to manage backgrounds, reference images, and watermarks directly in the VFB.

Each set can be easily rearranged after placement, giving users both speed and flexibility when building realistic, well-composed environments.

Scatter Cluster Painting

Scatter Clusters in V-Ray for SketchUp and Rhino give you finer control over how assets are distributed across a surface. With the new Cluster Painting mode, you can paint areas of higher density, such as flower patches in a lawn, while keeping surrounding regions more sparse or uniform. With a single scatter, you can quickly transform empty surfaces into natural landscapes.

Decals Scattering

Bring more realism to large surfaces with decal scattering in V-Ray for 3ds Max. By adding decals to Scatter’s guests list, you can quickly distribute details like cracks, dirt, or wear across flat areas, eliminating repetition and making surfaces feel more natural. Simply, create a Scatter, include your decal as a guest, and adjust the parameters to get the exact look you need.

Transform empty asphalt into realistic, populated parking lots in just a few clicks using Anima. Effortlessly create perpendicular, oblique, or parallel parking arrangements to accelerate your production and add a layer of essential realism to commercial projects. Anima, which is part of the V-Ray Collection, gives you the fastest way to handle complex traffic layouts - no need to place cars one by one anymore - just hit generate.

Chaos Cloud Reviews

The new Reviews feature in Chaos Cloud provides a structured workflow for design approvals. Files are organized on a visual Kanban board and tracked through stages from draft to review to approval. Teams can submit files for review, receive official approvals, and monitor progress in real time, replacing the fragmented mix of emails and external tools that currently slow down the architectural design sign-off process.

Chaos Cloud Video Collaboration

Vantage now allows you to achieve a similar toon effect like the V-Ray Toon feature in real time. No need to spend any time post-processing, your stylized toon frames and animation sequences are ready to fly into the next mood board, client review, or presentation.

Improved fluid simulator in real-time rendering

Vantage’s real-time fluid simulator has new controls for smoke and temperature expansion for greater artistic control over fluid simulations, making it easier to shape motion and achieve the desired look. We have added support for exporting VDB caches, so that simulations can be seamlessly integrated into production workflows and further refined as needed.
