What is Project Arena? Go behind the scenes of Chaos’ virtual production tech

Summary:

  • Virtual production is evolving with Project Arena, enhancing how filmmakers create movies and TV series.
  • Project Arena builds on Chaos Vantage technology to offer fully ray-traced environments for LED walls, benefiting directors and VFX teams.
  • Chaos' solution allows virtual assets to be directly transferred to LED walls, creating immersive environments for actors without leaving the studio.
  • Chaos Arena, formerly known as Project Arena, is now available, showcasing its ability to blur the lines between digital and physical worlds.

Virtual production has already transformed how filmmakers create movies and TV series — and it’s about to get even better thanks to Project Arena.*

Building on the real-time ray-traced rendering tech we pioneered with Chaos Vantage, Project Arena will finally give directors, cinematographers, virtual art departments, and VFX teams fully ray-traced environments for LED walls.

With Chaos’ solution, virtual assets can be taken straight from the artist to the LED wall, immersing actors in lifelike, customizable surroundings without ever leaving the studio.

As part of our Chaos Unboxed series, this video takes Chaos’ Head of Innovation Vladimir “Vlado” Koylazov and Chief Technology Officer Mihail Sergeev on an unexpected test run of Project Arena’s technology.

Join us for a sneak peek at how we’re blurring the lines between digital and physical worlds, and find out how we tackled some of the interesting challenges it presented. *Project Arena has since come out of beta and is now available. It is officially known as Chaos Arena.
