Corona 14: Faster, More Expressive Storytelling with AI

Introduces highly anticipated features, including Gaussian Splats support, AI-powered creation, Night Sky, and Fabric Material for smarter, more efficient workflows

KARLSRUHE, Germany — November 12, 2025 &mdash Chaos today announces the release of Corona 14 , the newest version of its photorealistic architectural rendering engine for 3ds Max and Cinema 4D. Combining AI-assisted creation tools, advanced procedural material generation, and environmental effects, Corona 14 enables artists to produce highly realistic visualizations with greater speed and control.

“ Corona 14 brings architectural visualization specialists the ultimate in photorealism for renders and animations — in the easiest ways possible,” said Tom Grimes, Chaos Corona product manager. “The new version delivers on both user-requested features and disruptive innovations — many of which are entirely new to the market — blending AI and procedural workflows to accelerate production while expanding what’s creatively possible. Artists can now experiment more freely, while telling richer visual stories with unprecedented realism.”

Corona 14’s new features include support for Gaussian splats , enabling creators to rapidly create 3D scenes with real-world captures. Now, teams can easily place buildings in context and render complex 3D environments with accurate reflections and refractions in the fastest way possible. These memory-efficient splats yield smoother surfaces, richer volumetric detail and a more natural sense of depth for designers looking to bring real-life environments and objects into their work.

Corona 14 realizes the potential of AI to serve as a creative companion, releasing humans from complex and repetitive tasks and enhancing their creativity. Simple to use, cutting-edge AI technologies integrated within Corona 14 add efficiency, save time and allow users to push creative boundaries without compromising quality. New AI features in Corona 14 include:

  • AI Material Generator allows creators to simply upload a photo of a real-world surface and then turn the image into a tileable, render-ready PBR, including all necessary maps, in a few clicks. It’s an ideal solution for secondary materials that don’t require art direction — but without loss of realism.
  • AI Image Enhancer elevates the realism, texture, and detail of supporting elements — such as foliage, people, or terrain — without altering the core design. Advanced controls allow users to adjust the appearance of people assets and refine vegetation for precision and consistency. Corona 14 can also enhance AI creativity with the power to send LightMix results directly to the AI Image Enhancer to explore multiple lighting scenarios or fine-tune mood.
  • AI Upscaler turns low-resolution drafts or renders into high-quality, presentation-ready visuals, saving hours of rendering time while still delivering crisp, photoreal results.
  • The ability to Enable/Disable AI features brings greater confidence and control — so creatives decide when it’s needed. This is particularly important when needing to follow strict AI policies and adhere to client requirements.

New features will also ensure there is always more realism and less friction during the visualization process. With Night Sky, designers can conjure the magic of night into renders without relying on HDRIs. An expansion of the Corona Sky system, this feature can add realistic moonlight, stars, and the galactic backdrop of the Milky Way into a design. Creators can set the location, date, and time, or take an artistic approach by manually adjusting the celestial objects. Fully animatable, Night Sky is ideal for time-lapse sequences and cinematic storytelling.

Fabric Material creates fabrics with true-to-life woven detail, with full control over the weave or threads — including opacity, bump, displacement, and more. With the new procedural Fabric Material, detailed fabrics can be created without relying on external bitmaps or complex node setups. Fabric Material also comes with presets for easy use.
